Description
The Floyd Initiative for Safe Housing (FISH) is a community-driven support effort focused on helping individuals and families throughout Floyd County who are facing housing instability, unsafe living conditions, displacement, or emergency housing crises.
Safe housing is foundational to health, stability, dignity, and long-term well-being. Unfortunately, many members of our community experience situations where stable housing becomes uncertain due to financial hardship, family emergencies, medical challenges, job loss, unsafe environments, or unexpected life events.
FISH exists to help bridge those difficult moments with compassion, practical assistance, and community support.
Donations May Help Support:
Emergency lodging and temporary shelter
Rental assistance and eviction prevention
Utility assistance to maintain safe living conditions
Housing stabilization support
Basic household necessities for families transitioning into housing
Transportation related to housing access and relocation
Support for vulnerable individuals experiencing crisis
Community-led outreach and housing advocacy efforts
Why This Matters
Housing insecurity can affect every part of a person’s life — employment, education, physical health, mental well-being, and family stability. Even short-term assistance can make a life-changing difference for individuals and families trying to regain stability.
FISH works to ensure that neighbors facing housing challenges are met with dignity, compassion, and meaningful support rather than isolation or judgment.
By contributing to the Floyd Initiative for Safe Housing, you are helping build a stronger and more caring community where people have a better chance to remain safe, secure, and supported during difficult times.
Together, we can help create pathways toward stability, safety, and hope for our neighbors in need.
